What is bank reconciliation and why should I do it?

Bank reconciliation allows you to verify that the transactions actually made in your bank account match the transactions you planned in Budget Express.

It involves comparing the transactions shown in your transaction history with those planned in Budget Express and matching them.

This step is important because it allows you to see exactly where your plan differs from reality. You can identify where your budget was not followed and determine whether you need to adjust your budget or certain spending habits.

What file format should I use for bank reconciliation?

You need to download a transaction history from your financial institution's online banking service. This is not the same as your monthly bank statement.

To perform bank reconciliation, download your transaction history in one of the following formats: QFX (Quicken) or OFX (Money).

The CSV format is not recommended because its structure varies from one financial institution to another.

If you're comfortable modifying a CSV file, email us at support@budget-express.com and ask for the CSV template compatible with Budget Express.

Is Budget Express secure to use online?

Budget Express uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host its software and data. AWS is a major cloud infrastructure platform that implements numerous security measures to protect the systems and data hosted on its infrastructure.

In addition, the information required to create your Budget Express account is limited. Access to the software is protected by your login credentials.
